Dear Friends,

Let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the music ministry at the United Methodist Church of Bala Cynwyd. The music program at UMC Bala has a rich tradition of performing works of many different styles, genres, and traditions throughout the year. Great pride and care is taken in carefully selecting all aspects of music for each worship service including hymns, service music, and special selections. We invite members of all ages and ability levels to grow closer to God by participating in the music ministry by singing, playing, or assisting with the many musical events throughout the year. We wholeheartedly believe, in the words of Martin Luther, that "to sing [and play] is to doubly pray"!

The ministry at UMC Bala strives for musical excellence in a caring and compassionate atmosphere. Our "core singers" are professionally trained musicians who are dedicated to help musicians and non-musicians alike to be successful in our musical programs. These singers can also be heard each week with a special selection which reflects the readings and music for the service. UMC Bala's premiere choir, the Chancel Choir, is comprised of both volunteers and professionals alike and sings at each service during the academic year. All are invited to be a part of the Chancel Choir and no experience is necessary to join.

I hope that you have enjoyed finding out just a bit of what the music program is like here at UMC Bala and invite you to join us. Choir practice is every Thursday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Hawkins room of the church. If you would like to participate in another way, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
